The crafts featured in these monumental sized still life drawings are created in tandem with my children. Both drawing and crafting have the magical ability to slow down time and shape memory. These acts of observation and creation provide a space for us to be productive together, leaning into being fully present.

The objects depicted are infused with the touch and mind space of the people who scribbled on them, held them, cared for them, and imagined with them. The drawings embrace the seemingly contradictory realms of parenting and the fine art world.

The deconstructed portraits reference the figure while simultaneously departing from the confines of traditional portraiture. Hair combines with objects that allude to the figure, and relate to the personality being depicted, while simultaneously protecting the child’s anonymity.
