“Mom Brain” fuses elements of realism with the transformative nature of new motherhood. Inspired by the first years of parenthood, the images are drawn from scenes of daily life. In a time when life is hectic and all consuming, yet somehow simultaneously meandering and repetitive, these drawings make a conscious effort to process and reflect my surroundings and experiences. Fleeting moments are captured through the immediacy of iPhone photography and transformed into large scale drawings. I manipulate tropes of photorealism, such as the glamorous French Braid, and infuse it with the grit and grunge of life with a toddler: Parental Realism. There is beauty and humor in the honest and imperfect.
